Biomass System, Stroud School, Romsey

Stroud School employed TNG to design a new district heating system as part of it’s strategy to reduce it’s carbon emissions.


Biomass System

The system consisted of 2 no. 160kW biomass boilers located within a newly created plantroom. The biomass system supplies heat across the whole site via pre-insulated buried pipelines. The boilers are fuelled by locally sourced wood pellets that are stored in an external silo.

The primary heat provides heating and domestic hot water to the new classroom and dining pod buildings, plus Highwood House, the main school building. The system will further accommodate a third boiler in the future allowing it to serve the heating and hot water demands of the ongoing expanding site.
