Project Overview
Phase 1 of the Hospital Modernisation project sees the creation of a new Critical Care Unit and Post Anaesthetic Recovery Departments.
Infrastructure Works
The existing hospital electrical infrastructure conflicted with the Hospital modernisation Project Phase 1 construction works so this infrastructure phase saw it modified to enable construction to be carried out.
Infrastructure Works included the provision of new Guernsey Electricity (GEL) Bulk supply point consisting of 2No. new 1.5mVA transformers located within a purpose-built substation building to the West of the PEH site.
We also included for the provision of new PEH West side LV Switchroom and backup generators and the existing electrical supplies for Phase 4, 5, 6, MRI CT Scanner & Hyperbaric Chamber, currently supplied from the existing East main electrical intake switchgear, has been transferred to the new West supply point to reduce electrical loading on the East intake.
Main Works
Included in the main works was the conversion of the existing Ozanne Ward into a new 10 bed Post Anaesthetic Recovery Area (PACU) consisting of 8No. Recovery bays and 2No. Recovery Rooms (Utilised by CCU and PACU), and a 10 bed Critical Care Unit (CCU) which includes 4No. isolation rooms.
It also included a courtyard extension incorporating a new EBME workshop, LV Switchroom, Data Room, Vacuum Plantroom at Level 01 and CCU Relatives area and changing accommodation at Level 02.
Lastly the Level 03 existing theatre changing area was also refurbished.
All works were carried out within an existing live Estate and as such all facilities serving other areas needed to remain fully operational throughout the works.
