Project Overview

Due to their age and condition, the existing Hospital Central Laundry (1985) and Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) (1973) steam-raising boilers required replacement. This project involved the construction of a new single boiler house adjacent to the facilities to accommodate three new 4,500 kg/hr, 9 Bar steam-raising boilers.

The boiler house was built independently by a local contractor, while the complete internal fit-out was fabricated in the UK. This assembly was factory-tested and witnessed, then disassembled, shipped to Jersey, and installed in the completed building. Final testing, witnessing, and acceptance followed.

The scheme also included the following:

  • BG01 compliant unmanned state, high integrity controls
  • Feedwater treatment
  • Blowdown and hotwell arrangements
  • Independent flues
  • Fuel farm with fuel conditioning
  • Distribution mains and gantry
