Project Overview
The SNAC building, formerly known as Southampton New Arts Complex (now MAST Mayflower Studios), Above Bar Street Southampton, was constructed in 2018. The original construction comprising of new North and South buildings. Facilities included auditoriums, art galleries, dance studios, offices, recording facilities and general flexible spaces.
Co-ordination
TNG working for the primary MEP Contractor, Dodd Group, was responsible for the final design and co-ordination of the MEP services. The project offered significant challenges given its two construction Contractor approach, whereby the shell and core were delivered separately to the fitout. Significant effort was required to achieve co-ordination of the MEP services with the specialist lighting and security systems, together with the structure and architecture.
Specialist
The Mechanical and Electrical systems included utilising Southampton’s Geothermal district heating provision. We also incorporated heat recovery ventilation as well as a high efficiency lighting system and a BMS control system. Due to the type of facility, top priorities were the fire alarm and security systems plus specialist lighting and control.
