TNG is now closed for Christmas – we shall be back on 2nd January.

Project Overview

This Lifeboat Station (LBS) has operated from various locations during its 200-year history. Originally located in Penzance, it moved to Penlee Point near Mousehole in 1913. However, following the tragedy of 1981, which resulted in the loss of all nine crew members of the Solomon Browne lifeboat while rescuing the crew of the stricken MV Union Star, a new lifeboat was stationed in Newlyn Harbour. The relocated LBS retained the Penlee name.

The new Penlee Lifeboat Station was constructed on the Newlyn Harbour site of the existing facility. The new building provides the essential facilities of:

  • Crew Changing
  • Crew Room
  • Training Room
  • Mechanics Workshop
  • Office

In addition the building provides a RNLI visitor engagement centre and yachtman showering facilities for the use of the harbour visitors.

TNG was responsible for the full duties detailed design of the MEP Engineering systems for the new build facility; as well as monitoring the site installation and witnessing of commissioning at handover. Headline services include, ground source heat pump served underfloor heating, PV panels and LV supply and distribution, emergency communications and data.
