TNG’s BLUE MONDAY BREAKFAST

The third Monday in January is referred to as Blue Monday, as it is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year, due to the weather, post-Christmas blues and the long wait till payday. But this is actually a myth and was a publicity stunt started in 2005 by a travel company encouraging people to book holidays.

This year Samaritans is changing the narrative and rebranding it #BrewMonday. Their campaign is encouraging people to change the ‘blue’ to ‘brew’ and focus on connecting with others over a cuppa. Refer to https://www.samaritans.org/support-us/campaign/brew-monday/

#BREWMONDAY

This is what we did this morning. TNG held our own ‘Blue Monday’ breakfast and sat together in the boardroom with a brew and some breakfast treats. The only thing blue this morning was the sky! This was a very different Monday morning for us, where we all usually get caught up in emails and meetings. It was nice to sit and chat for half an hour and start the week together sharing a nice breakfast.

We hope that you will follow Samaritan’s lead and make time to share a cup of tea and chat with someone today. In fact, any day can be a Brew day. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Monday morning or any other day of the week. This is something we could all do from time to time, so we don’t forget to connect with each other.

If you are needing some support or feeling that you are at breaking point, you can find some helpful contact information here – Crisis Services.

You can also call NHS 111 or the Samaritans on 116 123 (freephone).
