TNG Project Shortlisted for an Award

TNG is delighted that Hotwalls Studios, one of it’s recently completed projects, has been shortlisted for a RIBA award.

Hotwalls Studios

The Studios in Portsmouth, is one of 15 buildings that have been shortlisted for the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) South 2017 Awards:- RIBA South 2017.

The selected projects all reflect changes and innovation in architecture. They also display a commitment to providing spaces for the improvement and enhancement of people’s lives; something that has always been one of  TNG’s core values.

TNG worked for architect ERMC Limited, on the £1.75M Grade I listed project. This renovation scheme, for Portsmouth City Council, created 13 art studios and a deli-style café. The ancient monument building was originally a 15th century artillery barracks. However, it was redeveloped in order to promote the art and crafts culture in the city, attract visitors to the area, and create new jobs and opportunities.

Our Designs

Our mechanical and electrical designs included heat recovery ventilation, a new hot water system and LED lighting with automatic lighting controls. In addition, new external lighting, intruder alarm and fire alarm systems were provided.

40 buildings were entered from the South region, which covers Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Middlesex and Oxfordshire. Regional winners will be considered for a RIBA National Award in recognition of their architectural excellence. They then could be shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize for building of the year, later in the year.

Transformation

We will keep our fingers crossed for the regional win. But, whatever the outcome, TNG is very pleased to have been able to play a part in transforming this historically important building. The project has created an exciting facility that meets the demands of today, and helps to provide prosperity for local businesses.
