Test-Driving Talent at TNG

This summer, TNG is delighted to help students of all ages test-drive a career in building services engineering.

Undergraduate’s Internship Programme

We are delighted to welcome an undergraduate student from The University of Winchester to join us as a summer intern. Katie Hayward, 20, will learn how ‘The Next Generation’ operates as a business within the construction industry.

Katie will be entering her final year at University in September, studying Business Management. This work placement aims to enhance her knowledge of business processes and help her to understand how the industry works, through hands-on experience in the field.

Building Experiences

Katie will receive real experience and mentoring opportunities from the diverse and knowledgeable team at TNG. With a keen interest in personnel management and sustainable business, Katie will work closely with her mentor Lisa Pitman, HR Director, building practical experience and awareness. This will prove valuable when she starts a future career in whatever field she chooses to follow.

School and College Work Experience Programme

In addition, Sebastian Harris, aged sixteen, joined TNG for a work experience placement from King Edward VI School, in Southampton. Seb is the first ‘work experience’ student through our front door this summer.

Rob Motson, Junior Engineer, was one of the mentors that supported and supervised him whilst he carried out various building services tasks.

Building Services Engineering

Sebastian worked on real projects, giving him a true representation of what it is like to work as a Design Engineer in the building services sector. Hopefully this will encourage him to pursue a career in this field and raise awareness amongst his friends.

More students will be following in his footsteps over the summer months. We are passionate about increasing student knowledge of this field of engineering in order to help address the skills shortage. By inviting students to test-drive this career through work experience placements, we are helping to guide future Engineers and potentially TNG employees!

We hope Sebastian enjoyed his time at TNG; he was a pleasure to have on the team, albeit temporarily.
