Southlands Ophthalmology Centre

The team at TNG are delighted that the new £7.5M Ophthalmology Unit at Southlands Hospital in Shoreham-by-Sea has been handed over on time and within budget.

M&E Design

Our design team, lead by Engineers Chris Collinson (Senior Mechanical Engineer) and Philip Smith (Senior Electrical Engineer), collaboratively designed the mechanical and electrical services for this eagerly awaited facility.

This project comprised the refurbishment of part of the existing ground floor to create a new Ophthalmology department. The works involved the strip out of a redundant Day Surgical Unit and an adjoining occupied Day Unit. A roof top plant room was partially demolished and extended to accommodate the new heating, ventilation and air conditioning plant equipment.

Ophthalmology Unit

The new Unit now includes:-

– 16 consultation/examination rooms.

– An imaging facility

– A Fluorescein Angiography room

– A laser treatment room

– Two procedure rooms specifically designed for carrying out Ophthalmic surgery

Western Sussex Eye Care

The specialist eye care service will be called ‘Western Sussex Eye Care – Southlands’. It has been designed to enable more patients to receive their tests, results and diagnoses in one visit, with many treatments also available on the same day.

We are pleased that we have been able to help deliver this important facility.
