This year, TNG was pivotal to the successful delivery of several Operating Theatres at Jersey General Hospital, in the Channel Islands.
Work first began in 2014 on the designs for Theatres 5 & 6. Two new Operating Theatres were created, complete with new primary Mechanical and Electrical engineering services and infrastructure. They were constructed within a new 3-storey extension to Block B, 1960’s Wing. The lower and upper ground floor provided plant space for the new theatres located on the top floor.
The creation of the new theatres enabled pairs of existing theatres to be upgraded, without affecting clinical delivery. The subsequent phase involved the staged replacement of mechanical ventilation plant and associated electrical supplies in Theatres 1 to 4. It also included the full refurbishment of Theatres 3 and 4, including new ultra clean ventilation canopies.
Full Duties Design
TNG provided full-duties design of the Mechanical and Electrical engineering services for both contracts. All works were completed in August this year, on time and within budget. Throughout both phases, works were carried out within an existing live estate, therefore all facilities serving other areas had to remain fully operational throughout construction.
TNG was delighted to be able to exercise its expertise and help with the successful delivery of such a critical service at the hospital in Jersey.
