Back to School!
Work Experience Placements
We have now completed our Work Experience placements for 2016. We have looked after some friendly and enthusiastic students who will soon be returning back to school and college. The last on our list was James Mitchell, from King Edward VI School in Southampton.
This is what he said about his experience:-
“I have learnt a large amount during my two weeks at TNG. It has been an engaging, worthwhile and stimulating experience, and certainly time well spent. Apart from discovering all about the field of building services engineering, which I knew very little about before, I have been taught many vital engineering skills.
In particular, I have had lots of practice of producing drawings, using data in a variety of formats to deduce the best solution to implement, been introduced to some high-end software, and I now appreciate how many factors need to be considered and weighted during the design process. This will help me better understand engineering problems, and will be advantageous as I go forwards.
This increased understanding, as well as simply taking part in the programme will be useful for upcoming university interviews and exams. Experiencing what it is like to work in a smaller company is also beneficial.”
The Great TNG Bake-Off!
As a thank you for looking after him, James baked a cake for the office sporting the TNG logo! James definitely has ‘engineer’ potential, as he recognises the importance of a slice of cake with the morning cup of tea. He could also become a great baker; the cake was delicious!
Engaging with Students
TNG is determined to continue to engage with students so that we are able to encourage them to pursue a career in Building Services Engineering. We look forward to next summer’s placements and the opportunity to help more students with this very important decision.
